About Us | | Our goal is simple: Raise money to send children with Muscular Dystrophy to camp while increasing activities with-in the FM area. The Muscular Dystrophy and Fargo/Moorhead now have the Old Fashioned MDA Motorcycle Run and the MDA Downtown Street Dance. History of the Independent Bikers Old Fashioned MDA Motorcycle Fun Run Bikers have been sponsoring rides to benefit the MDA for decades, but the majority of the events are organized by Harley Davidson dealers that alienate the bikers that do not ride HD. Well starting in 1999 a group called the Independent bikes made up of a board of representatives from local motorcycle dealers began organizing an Un-Authorized Old Fashioned MDA motorcycle ride to allow all bikers riding any make & model to participate. History of the MDA Downtown Street Dance (Not much history yet but were working on it) The Street dance will open many doors by creating a family friendly activity in conjunction with our motorcycle run. 2006 launched the first Annual Street Dance with Bryce Niemiller project performing live on Broadway. We serving over 600 lbs. of roast pork, 50 gallons of baked beans, 300 lbs. of potatoes, 400 bags of potatoes chips and close to 160 hot dogs all for a small entrance fee of $5.00 with children under 15 free with parent. Future vision for the street dance would bring the entire Downtown community being involved by expanding the number of city blocks being closed and adding more activities like games for Children, multiple bands placed at opposite ends of the downtown, food and clothing vendors offering more diverse selection of foods and the opportunity for people to do a little shopping. If your interested in becoming involved please contact anyone of us on our Home page! | |
